A BIT ABOUT US
The Mellowhood Foundation is a non-profit (501(c)(3)) corporation. It was the brain-child of Meadowood resident Tutankhamun (Coach) Assad. Coach established a flag football league in 2011 to keep under-served neighborhood kids busy over the summer. He worked with other neighborhood leaders to arrange similar groups so they could compete for the flag football championship. After the success of his efforts, the idea of the foundation was born.
The foundation's goal is to change the quality of life in these communities by encouraging parents and children to become assets rather than liabilities. The foundation provides opportunities for youth and parents in under-served and under-valued Madison neighborhoods to engage in constructive community activities. The focus of all activity is to help create an environment where youth and parents can both see leadership as a shared responsibility and experience using self-determination for constructive change.
